European horses dominate the early betting for the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Early betting lines have Sea The Stars and Zenyatta as the 4/1 joint favorites for the race on Saturday 7 November.

Sea The Stars is the world’s highest rated racecourse and won the Juddmonte International at York, UK this week to further enhance his reputation. He had already won the 2000 Guineas, the Epsom Derby and the Eclipse Stakes. He is next expected to run in the Irish Champion Stakes in early September at Leapordstown, Ireland.

American filly Zenyatta won the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic last year and was voted American Champion Older Female Horse. She has won the Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park, the Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park and the Clement L Hirsch Handicap at Del Mar this season but the Breeders’ Cup has always been her season’s target.

Rip Van Winkle is next in the betting at 8/1. He won the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood, England in July and finished second to Sea The Stars in the Eclipse. He is expected to run at Ascot in the Queen Elizabeth II stakes before heading to the Breeders’ Cup.

Quality Road at 10/1, Fame and Glory at 12/1, Mastercraftsman at 12/1, Rail Trip at 14/1, Einstein at 14/1 and Pioneerof The Nile at 14/1 are next in the betting for the $3 million race.
